The Hong Kong Natural History Society has encouraged individuals and their families to join their membership with a mission to share and enjoy an abiding passion for wildlife and nature since it was founded in 1949.
The society focuses on offering outings and experiences to educate members on Hong Kong's abundant and unique flora and fauna, with an appreciation of the conservation of Hong Kong's scenic countryside and coastal setting.
The Society currently has a membership of approximately 60, composed of many different nationalities, who all have a common abiding passion – a love of the Hong Kong countryside. The Society organises regular hikes in the beautiful country park areas of Hong Kong from November to April, often with the luxury of coach transport to take us to remote areas.
In the summer months, the Society arranges boat outings to the more remote islands of Hong Kong for exploration and relaxation. Expert-led nature walks, visits to nature reserves and conservation sites, and dinner talks on a variety of natural history topics are held throughout the year.
We are always looking for new members who share the same passion for Natural History, and for new excursions to learn more about Hong Kong's countryside.
Weekend & Public Holiday hikes and walks tailored to suit all members with a focus on enjoying the countryside and company, with the opportunity to take photographs, and often ending in a drink/meal.
Mid-week hikes focused on exploring Hong Kong's nocturnal wildlife, whilst enjoying the city's natural forest canopy sounds against the glittering lights of the city in the distance.
In the summer months, a great escape from the heat. Visits to more remote islands, often by private charter. Members are given the opportunity to explore remote fishing villages, geological rock formations, with ample time to take a cool dip or snorkel.
Mid-week presentations from experts and enthusiasts from leading Hong Kong educational institutions, charitable organisations and conservation projects. Opportunities for questions and further discussion over dinner and drinks.
Opportunities for members to relax and catch-up for special occasions, supporting a charitable cause, or for a casual meal or picnic.
