Shui Hau area on Lantau Island is famous for its expansive, undulating sandflats, which create a mirror effect in the sky at low tide, attracting photographers. It boasts mangroves, marshes, and various coastal habitats, making it a favored spot for ecotourism. During holidays and weekends, the beach is bustling with clam diggers. From the tranquil Shui Hau Village, a brief hike south along Lantau Trail Section 9 leads to the scenic Lo Kei Wan Beach.
Shui Hau is a distinctive region that includes a variety of coastal ecosystems, such as marshlands, mangrove forests, intertidal sand flats, boulder shores, and rocky coastlines. Because of its diverse habitat characteristics, the ecological landscape of Shui Hau fosters a comparatively rich array of biodiversity, with over 600 species documented, including the horseshoe crab, known as a 'Living Fossil.'
This distinctive opportunity allows participants to connect with nature while exploring the rich cultural heritage and history of Shui Hau. Attendees will partake in a variety of workshops, observe practices related to rice farming and re-cultivation, create their own traditional snacks, and savor a delightful farm-to-table lunch. We will travel to Shui Hau Village by no 11 bus from Tung Chung.
11.15 - 12.30 Tour of Village
Lunch - Snacks at Fung Wong Store and a café with simple meals.
2.00 - 3.30 Shui Hau Bay Eco Tour- Part of Lantau Trail section 9.
Return by bus to Mui Wo or Tung Chung.
